Frisko Presents: + KNOW BUSES + The Citizens + Dirt Royal + The Colorado

In case you haven't heard already... Frisko is the freshest Indie Night to hit your town.
Here at Frisko we love nothing more than to mosh our socks off to the hottest indie music this side of saturn! So... this is the single most important reason we do what we do.
Whether it be from local unheard of bands that need to be heard, or worldwide bands that need to be heard again and again, we have it all. And if that wasn't enough we also have our resident dj's aswell as special guest dj's specializing in mashing your eardrums through to early morn!

Know Buses was formed after Brit Pop band The Visitors disbanded in 2007 after the members decided to move onto personal projects, leaving drummer Andy Norman and guitarist Ben Cooling to search for new band mates. Moving to a new college in September 2008 the guys were introduced to singer Matt Iles and bassist Sam Goldsworthy. With a new line up and a change of name Know Buses were formed. At an average age of 19 the lads have played more gigs in their first year together than most play in five, with this dedication to making their music heard they have created a large following in the local music scene.
Feeding off of the energy of their always hectic crowds Know Buses reward them by giving 100% in entertaining showmanship. Front man Matt conducts the audience with ease and owns each venue with his dominating stage presence, backed up by drummer Andy, who's playing is reminiscent of a young Keith Moon. Ben and Sam tie up the show, keep your eyes peeled for swinging guitars and impromptu crowd surfing, their live shows are something to not be missed.
Know Buses do not shy away from speaking out about issues facing a young Britain, including the growing 'fight night' culture that countless cities face on a Friday and Saturday night. The song ?Couple Of Days? confronts the abundance of reality TV shows that are flooding through and controlling the media. With a nodding homage towards TV legend Bruce Forsyth, these boys have a sharp sense of humour within their song writing. Substance and meaning are all wrapped up neatly in a gritty, dirty guitar rock sound that has such an infectious bounce, Know Buses is the perfect soundtrack to kick start any night out.
With the local scene buzzing about the lads, it was only a short amount of time before the media got a sniff of the Know Buses frenzy. ?Shit the bed, these guys are gonna be HUGE!? a quote from music mogul David Slader, who has hotly tipped the guys to make it all the way to the top. Webzine 'Musicbytes' exclaims ?mind blowing mix of substance and cool? and Venue magazine concurs stating, ?The exhuberance of youth, proper melodies and a fanbase: Know Buses have it all!".
Reaching the top of ?wantsigned.com? playlist, an industry insiders radio station, just proves that they are hot property and with growing interest from local radio and national magazines, it'll only be a matter of time before Know Buses reach the heights of Babyshambles, Glas Vegas, and Razorlight.
Future plans for Know Buses include returning to the studio to write their highly anticipated EP, currently untitled, and constantly writing these guys will have no end of material to work with. Hoping for an early 2010 release followed by a nationwide tour, they have an exciting time a head. Riding on the crest of a buzzing reputation, colossal success is just waiting to grab Know Buses by the scruff of their necks and thrust them into the mainstream mayhem that is the music business.

Sandi Thom + Marcus Bonfanti + Kicaberry

SANDI THOM
Having topped the charts in seven countries with her first single, the infamous internet hit I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker, and shifted a million copies of the ensuing LP, Scots born Sandi Thom is officially the 47th biggest selling female of the 21st century.

Late in 2009, Sandi was invited to tour the UK and Europe by new blues powerhouse Joe Bonamassa and the result is Merchants And Thieves, a new album set for release in May 2010, that highlights Sandis ability to diversify and explore deeper and more organic musical roots.

As striking a musical reinvention as you're likely to witness this year. Upcoming album Merchants & Thieves is now firmly entrenched on our must hear list for 2010. Barry Nicholson, News Of The World.

MARCUS BONFANTI
With three years touring the world as a sideman, and hundreds of gigs with his own blues band, Marcus Bonfanti has the heart and soul of a confirmed bluesman, with the face of a rock star.

From a young age, Marcus was listening to classic rock, pop and blues, while rising through the ranks as a talented trumpeter at school in demand by youth orchestras and bands. At the age of 15, however, a friend pointed him in the direction of Led Zeppelin IV, and everything changed.
This was heavier than anything my father played at home. From the first bars of Black Dog, I wanted to be Jimmy Page.

In his playing, Marcus is self-taught. A few people showed me bits here and there, they taught me a few licks or songs but I could always seem to find my way around the guitar, it just felt right. Practising first on his mum’s old acoustic, then a Fender Squire Stratocaster, he worked throughout the summer between school and sixth form to buy his first Les Paul – the Page guitar.

Soon he had formed a band with his best friend, and was being asked to play on sessions for musician friends. When it came to choosing a university course, only the Liverpool Institute of the Performing Arts gave him the musical freedom that he needed.

KICABERRY
As a girl/boy minimalist duo, Kicaberrys Josh Kumras vocal is given plenty of room to manoeuvre in a sound that focuses centrally on songs, as opposed to todays standard novelties such as kazoos, saws, upside down chairs and loop stations. Theres always room for a quick blast of harmonica mind. Joshs vocal is one of todays current scene that truly merits the labeling as soulful, unique and with a genuinely appealing and un-contrived gravel tone.

The Parade + Support

THE PARADE
Parade is the band formed by Chris Johnson, guitarist for the former Marillion frontman Fish. They have recorded their first album, The Fabric.

At the end of 2008, after 18 months of touring Fish’s 13th Star album and two years prior to that as a songwriting member of Mostly Autumn, Chris found himself back at home with a backlog of songs that would form the basis of The Fabric.

“Some of the songs were originally intended for Mostly Autumn, others started life on tour - at the back of the bus or in various hotel rooms and dressing rooms. I’ve always got a guitar or a laptop or a scrap of paper to catch ideas on,” says Chris.

Faced with the task of recording the album Chris, says, “I wanted these songs to be performed by the best band I could put together. People whose playing excites me and whose energies and ideas could come together to form something new and inventive.”

YOUFO - UFO tribute

Main bar open from 5pm, venue bar from 8.30pm.

YOUFO are UK's only UFO/Schenker tribute band. Their live set is based on the infamous 'Strangers in the Night' live album which is often listed by critics and fans as one of the best live rock albums of all time and ranks up with Thin Lizzy's "Live and Dangerous", Kiss's' "Alive" and Deep Purple's "Made in Japan". All the classics are accurately replicated live - from the phenomenal hits 'Only You Can Rock Me', 'Doctor Doctor', 'Lights Out' and 'Rock Bottom' from the 'SITN' right through to 'Selfmade Man',' Venus' and 'Pushed To The Limit' from later albums.
YOUFO pride themselves on capturing the sight, sound and feel of UFO from the guitarist's trademark black and white flying V and the instantly recognizable stance, the faultless and powerful drumming and the hammering bass lines to the understated keyboards and the melodic vocal lines.
The band are very proud to be widely recognized by fans, music critics and venue owners to becoming one of the best UK Hard Rock professional tribute acts.

Quotes from fans and reviews

“...as a long time UFO fan since 78 you guys sound great-definitely do justice to the proud name of UFO.”

“I was expecting a dodgy UFO tribute band but that was pure excellence.”

“... you could tell by the smiles that they genuinely enjoy what they do and judging by the crowd reaction so did they.”

“ ... the set included “Try me” and the vocals of Graham Knight had the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.”

“Good show ... Energetic and tight!!”

And simply.... if you want to hear 'SITN' faithfully recreated come along and listen to YOUFO!

The Flaming Moes + The Shudders

THE FLAMING MOES
Playing mostly local gigs for a couple of years, the band decided to try to make a record once again, and in January 2007 they started recording what was to be the second e.p. "We'll Never Forget Where Our Hearts Lie – Love, The Flaming Moes", a six song record, with ambitiously produced soul-pop-rock music, filled with roaring vocal exercises, horn sections, synthesizers and gorgeous band interplay. A bright and up-lifting record, overtly happy on the outside, but at the same time with a lot of underlying content (thus the somewhat ambiguous title...). Hopefully a record that will grow on people. That won’t stop haunting them. A record for everyone.

THE SHUDDERS
“I guess we pull in influences from different spectrums, there are four people in the band and we each like to all draw upon our own individual influences. I think that shows in all our songs. Certainly there are flavours of country, indie, traditional Irish, rock and pop to savour.”
