Danny and the champions of the world + Grand Pocket Orchestra

DANNY AND THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD
a celebration of collective yesness!! good times and the cosmic yeehaa!! the champions of the world are a raggle taggle collection, a travelling band of brothers and sisters, roaming the country, setting up camp in towns and villages, invoking the spirit of ronnie lane's 'passing show' or joe cocker's 'mad dogs and englishmen'. those who have caught glimpses of the champs tell of face-paints and moving pictures, they speak of singing, of yesness. sitars, dulcimers and flutes , spangled and fluttered, trumpets blowed and singly sung - a container became an echo chamber of the heart, barn doors creakered. legend has it that folk and country and blues have been heard and drunken in, rockin' and rollin' been snuck out the window and the muppets been eyed at, even. they talk of people being together in music and brotherhood. keep your eyes peeled and your ear to the ground - they say you can be a champ too

GRAND POCKET ORCHESTRA
you got your dark times and you got your happy times, we are somewere in the middle. we write happy songs about not so happy things, with the intention of making the awful seem not so bad. if you feel that we have made the not so bad seem awful then we have failed, and we apologise. this is grand pocket orchestra in a nutshell, and we are yours for the keeping.

MADNESS TRIBUTE - 1 STEP BELOW + Port Erin

The band was formed and played its 1st gig on 01/02/03 they soared to great heights, including headlining at the centenary New Years Eve Party at the Gold Coast Hotel in Las Vegas.

1StepBelow have earned a reputation throughout the world for being the closest you will get to the Real Camden Nutty Boys.

You’re know from the opening words of “HEY YOU, DON’T WATCH THAT” You are in for a time of good tunes and Nutty Antics; it certainly is “One Step Below”.

Made up with some of the finest musicians that South West has to offer, the band is also proud to have a front man that is the only Suggs-a-like in the UK with his sharp suit and glasses, he enters the stage with that familiar nutty dance and continues the high energy act throughout the show. You will have to rub your eyes in disbelieve, “Are you sure it’s not the real Madness”

The show is not to be missed.

TCT Music Presents + Johnny Flynn + Mumford and Sons + Billyjon

A Shakesperian actor by training, Mr Flynn is one disgustingly talented young man, who somehow manages to avoid being nauseating and punchable with it. He's shared the stage with friends including Larrikin Love, Emmy The Great and Jeremy Warmsley at the club night 'Apocalypso' he set up after being inspired by the NY Anti-folk scene on a visit to the Big Apple. His deft guitar-picking style and referencing of everything from Jeffrey Lewis to Lonnie Johnson to his major influence - Dylan, shows that there'll always be room for a man playing beautiful songs on guitar and harmonica, no matter what fads and scenes come and go.

UB40 Tribute - Johnny 2 Bad

The band gathered players from the Who's Who of the UK reggae circuit and worked hard honing the sound and stage show in venues across the UK. After 18 months and under new manager, Steve Hughes, the band rapidly gained a loyal following and an enviable reputation as one of the most exciting reggae bands around. They have been sought out to work alongside established artists such as: Pato Banton, Bad Manners, Musical Youth and Apache Indian.

In January 2007 Johnny 2 Bad made its European debut in Holland, headlining at Leeuwarden's Muziekcentrum Schaaf From this came further bookings in Holland and Belgium thanks to the enthusiasm and support of Bobby Veenstra.

Love of the music, world class musicianship, sheer hard work and supreme professionalism, guided by expert management has seen Johnny 2 Bad take its place in the UK arena and now they are set to step up to the world stage.
Johnny 2 bad have recently returned from a ground breaking tour of Lithuania and we were accompanied by a BBC news team, they recorded our every movement and created a documentary which was broadcast across the BBC network. You can now view this on the BBC website if you follow the link below.

Frequency Airborne Battle Of The Bands Heat 1

This year something unique is starting and Frequency will be at the helm, alongside Brunel FM, Create Studios and Western Computer.

Frequency Airborne is a battle of the bands with a difference. Starting from May you will be able to hear live on the Frequency radio show 9 bands that you can then vote for to win some sensational prizes as the Frequency Airborne band of 2008.

Each month there will be a live event at the 12 Bar on Westcott Place, so not only will you be able to hear tracks on the radio, acoustic sessions but also a live gig…so you can truly vote for your favourite band.

In this unique event for 2008, there are some fantastic prizes. Airborne Partner Create Studios is offering a ‘Complete Studio Package’ as a prize. This will include 5 days in Create’s state-of-the-art Sound Studio working alongside top producer Barry Andrews, through to the production of a finished CD.

Not only this but the winning band will receive a Mac Book Pro & Logic Studio software courtesy of airborne’s sponsor, Western Computer, Wiltshire’s only Apple Premier Reseller.

9 bands will be picked to go into the event. 3 will be showcased each month, one a week with a round up week. On the final week the three bands will play live at the 12 Bar, Swindon. One band from each group of three will be picked by public vote to take part in the final.

After the initial rounds are over, the winning 3 bands go through to the final round. Two more weeks of radio coverage followed by the final at the 12 Bar, where the winner will be announced.

Gigs at the 12 Bar are on the 29th May, 27th June and the 31st July, with the Final on the 25th September 2008.

It all starts on the 4th May and submissions to be selected need to be in by the end of March 2008.

So if you are in a band and want to be considered we need: At least 2 recorded tracks (remember, this is going out over the radio, so the higher quality the better!!) At least 5 photos of the band in jpeg format (again, the higher quality the better)
